A Mosque Among The Stars available for free!

A Mosque Among The Stars was the first anthology that dealt with the subject of Muslim characters and/or Islamic themes and Science Fiction. It was edited by me (Muhammad Aurangzeb Ahmad) and the Canadian Muslim author Ahmad Khan. It came out in 2007. Now that it has been years since it was released in printed form, we have decided to release A Mosque Among The Stars to the public as a Creative Commons Licensed (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs) book. This means that you can download it for free and share with others as long as you dont make any changes to it and also do it for free. So without much further ado here is where you can download the book.

About Muhammad Aurangzeb Ahmad

Islam and Science Fiction is a website on all things related to Islam, Muslims and Science Fiction and everything in between. The exploration of Islam and Science Fiction is from a cultural and social perspective, from a cultural and civilizational sense. A more appropriate term would be Marshall Hodgson's Islamicate. Thus this site is a compendium of novels, short stories, novellas, movies etc which either has Islamic themes or have Muslim characters. You can contact the editor at mahmad@cs.umn.edu

Hey there, I’d reall love to read this but it appears the download link is broken!

  3. Fergus Barker says:

Ah the link is broken as it has the article appended at the front rather than the proper link of http://www.islamscifi.com/AMosqueAmngstTheStars.pdf

    Hope this helps!

  4. John Radi says:

There seems to be something wrong with the download link, it doesn’t lead anywhere. Otherwise, I’m very excited to see this! I had no idea there was such a thing!

  5. Michael says:

    Thank you for this!

  6. Muhammad Aurangzeb Ahmad says:

I have fixed the link. Thanks for notifying me.

I’d love to read this but PDF is a really bad format for an e-book reader…

  9. Hadar Svan says:

    No Epub format?

  10. Rasheed says:

If you have a Kindle DX or similar sized reader, you can crop the margins and read on it comfortably. In fact, you can download it from here with the margins cropped:

(I’m sure that doesn’t come under changing its contents).

I’d really love to read this, but without it being in .mobi or .epub format I cannot. Please configure it and repost!

  13. I wanted to read it, because I wanted to read something with islamic views in it to add some more variety to my readings. Sadly PDF is a bad format for me, so I’ll pass. Thanks for the offer. If you release an EPUB, MOBI, or any other format that can be used with Calibre to cenvert it, please let me know.

  14. Oscar HP says:

I had no problem converting from PDF to MOBI in Calibre

  15. Alex Draven says:

While I applaud your decision, and look forward to reading the anthology, is there any reason why you’ve decided to post a pdf here, rather than (also) making the Smashwords version free, which would give your potential readers a much wider range of formats, with no extra work for you, and also help it reach a wider audience by putting it in front of people who are looking for sf ebooks, but might not find your individual site?
